Fuenteovejuna, el valor de las mujeres

Lope de Vega _ Playwright José Gabriel López Antuñano _ Dirección Vagba Oboud de Sales y Luis Marqués

The interest of this project focuses in moving one of the most important plays of the Spanish Golden Age to the unknown sociocultural reality of Ivory Coast. The theme on which the work has been done is basically women's dignity and the equality related to men (in fact, this version's cast, respectful, is integrated with four women and four men). This matter is present in Lope de Vega, wich strengthen in the staging.

The work with Fuenteovejuna supposed an approach to the Spanish literary patrimony and the work, realized with a group of artists from Ivory Coast, has been focused on the interculturality: the fable is respected and many of the original texts, translated to french, at the same time, artistical traditions of this country are included, the staging exposes and develops the theme of this dramatic play, with proper resources, with any approach or imitation of other theatrical forms extraneous to our culture.
