New premiere from JK Opole Theater is on the way! The production is being developed in a cooperation between the theater and Polish Institute in Madrid.
Based on romantic ‘Balladyna’ by Juliusz Słowacki and baroque ‘Hijas del aire’ by Calderón, the play tells a story about two incredibly strong sisters. Both refer to canonic characters: Spanish Semiramis and Polish Balladyna – main roles of two mentioned plays.
Two sisters, one crown and unstoppable greed of power. A pursuit of fulfillment that once accomplished may emerge as illusion. An instant feeling of serenity that disappears too quickly. Hesitation, confidence that what we gain is far away from what we’ve imagined. Or that we no longer fit in the image. We’ve became someone unrecognizable. Someone that cannot keep on dying values. Love? Reigning? Do they always end up in betrayal?
Poetic story about conflicts between weal and evil, love and betrayal, senility and youth. It's a discussion on emotions, senses but also on values that constitute us as people. This is a story about what poisons us, spoils us, rots us inside but also about searching for an intimate, inner answer of how to prevent it... This is a story about becoming someone else. About the inability to see what is really meaningful.
For this production JK Opole Theater invited a Spanish director Ignacio García. He’s a well-known artist who worked from all over the world from Russia to South America. Until now he won many prizes including awards of Teatro Real in Madrid and Association of Spanish Directors.
