Don Quixote is one of the most translated works of universal literature, and in fact, it has been translated in more than 50 languages; but how does El Quijote sound in Portuguese, Romanian, French, Arabic, English or Korean?
The curious Cervantes would have loved to have the opportunity to listen his work - at least for one minute- in another language and that this would certainly interest many other curious visitors.
This project consists of a recording of a short fragment of El Quijote, namely the beginning of chapter 58 of the second part, which contains the Quixote's defence of freedom. This fragment has been interpreted by a total of 60 international actresses and actors in their native language, expressing in this way, the freedom to create through literature all forms of expression from a perspective of dignity and cultural difference.
This initiative was made possible thanks to the collaboration of different embassies, public and private theatres in more than 40 countries. The recording was premiered during the 39th edition of the Festival, in a piece of video-art that will also be exhibited in 2016 and 2017 in the different venues of the participating institutions.
