El Lazarillo de Tormes y poemas

Again El Lazarillo. Alive, spontaneous as romance, intuitive, nourished by experience and full of the rhythm of the spoken language. El Lazarillo has the Franciscan simplicity of a medieval church, -with the fields and the sun on the horizon of Castile as a background-, and illuminating the expression of the most sincere feeling: hunger, if hunger was a feeling, which for Lázaro, it is.

I wanted to produce El Lazarillo, which was released thirty years ago, because you always ask me to. When I first did it I thought if I spun it for at least 25 years maybe I would understand and do it right. I have already spun it for thirty years. And I want to remember Fernando Fernán Gómez, the great teacher who adapted it. My tribute of loyalty, admiration, love and respect is to always to return to El Lazarillo´s source.

De nuevo El lazarillo. Vivo, espontáneo como el romance, intuitivo, nutrido de experiencia y pleno del ritmo del idioma hablado. El lazarillo tiene la simplicidad franciscana de una iglesia medieval sobre un fondo de trigales y el sol del horizonte de Castilla iluminando la expresión del sentimiento más sincero: el hambre, si el hambre fuera un sentimiento, que para Lázaro lo es.

Quiero hacer El lazarillo, que se estrenó hace ya treinta años, porque ustedes me lo piden siempre. Cuando lo hice por primera vez pensé que si lo hacía girar al menos 25 años tal vez lo entendería y lo haría bien. Y ya llevo treinta. Y quiero recordar a Fernando Fernán Gómez, el maestro grande que lo adaptó. Mi tributo de lealtad, admiración, amor y respeto es volver siempre a la fuente de su Lazarillo.
