Book of the 40th Edition

Since 1978, the city of Almagro offers the universal classical theater of 16^th and 17^th centuries, the silence of its streets and courtyards, the harmony of its squares and the ingenious beauty of its Corral de Comedias, -a unique theater space built in 1628-, around which the Festival was  originated. An event that was commemorated in 2017, for the 40^th edition of Almagro’s Festival, with a special book about the 40-year history of this cultural meeting.

This volume go through the different editions and the memories attached to them: images, notes, reflections… to show and thank the beautiful road that reaches Almagro and its Festival. Collect the representations under the stars, in Renaissance buildings recovered into theaters, in baroque cloisters and in neoclassical buildings, as well as a multitude of theatrical and scenic forms, days of classical theater, artistic exhibitions, music, cinema, meetings and courses.

The book of the 40 editions of the International Festival of Classical Theater of Almagro remarks as well its essential objective: to facilitate participation and access to theater and culture, proposing diverse actions in unique spaces; to make the visitors enjoy the journey of time and cultivate the richness of the soul, to value sensitivity and tolerance.
